Amazon.com Product Description Iogear's GHDMIAS4 4-port Automatic HDMI Switch with Remote reduces clutter and promotes a cleaner, neater home entertainment setup. One Box for All of Your Devices The HDMI switch can connect your HDTV to your source devices with a single cable, rather than requiring separate cables for each device. Your HDTV is connected to the switch, which is placed near source devices, and they are all connected to the switch. This would be an ideal solution for wall-mounted HDTVs as future expansion is made easier. The switch accommodates HD devices such as video game consoles, media PCs, DVRs, and AV receivers, and supports 1080p resolution. It is HDMI 1.3v and HDCP compliant. One Remote to Rule Them All Iogear's HDAS auto-switching technology eliminates the need for a dedicated remote; the switch senses when a device is active and sets itself accordingly. If you want to switch to another device, simply power on the desired device. Additionally, as all the source devices are connected to a single HDMI connection, you never have to manually switch among the AV inputs. Switch among the devices by using the switch remote to select the desired video port--without powering devices on and off. If you already have a learning universal remote, it can learn the functions of this switch remote. Iogear's GHDMIAS4 4-port automatic HDMI switch with remote is backed by a 3-year warranty. What's in the Box GHDMIAS4 4-port HDMI automatic switch, switch remote, 6-foot HDMI (male-male) cable, power adapter, quick start guide, and warranty/registration card.

Works Very Well! March 23, 2010 The Madman This device works well, but of course, as with any HDMI device like this there are some devices that arent always going to be perfectly compatible - but that would happen with any switch.
It works but not as I had hoped January 6, 2010 layed_back (near Austin, Tx) Purchased this item for christmas since my older Panasonic HD TV has only 1 HDMI input. I have a DirectTV HD receiver, Panasonic BD player and Toshiba DVD burner connected to it. It does not always switch automatically and have to use the remote to switch the inputs. The lights are too bright and are not labeled.
I have no complaints about pass-thru picture quality. I was able to use 3ft HDMI cables for hookup totaling 6ft to the TV. The shorter the better in order to maintain high frequency response. The longer the cable lenght used means more capacitance in the cable and less high frequency response no matter how much you paid for the cable. More than 12 ft can mean trouble especially for older, small diameter cables.
The concept of this product is great but it doesn't work and the RMA process is very slow. November 12, 2009 M. Winston (Washington, DC) I also purchased this product and had similar problems as others have mentioned (auto-sensing didn't work, the device would freeze up, and the remote didn't work). When I spoke to tech support at IOGEAR, they told me that these problems were common! Unfortunately even though this is apparently a common problem and a result of a "design defect" on their end, they have a very inexpedient RMA process. You would think they would want to minimize your inconvenience rather than increasing it. Here is what I mean: Most company's offer to send me a new (working) unit and a return shipping label for my defective product. IOGEAR's support said I would have to send them the broken unit, wait for them to test it, and it would either be fixed or it would be replaced. The problem is that this entire process would take up to 3 weeks since it would take a week to ship to IOGEAR, a week to troubleshoot, and a week for them to ship it back to me. You would think that after inconveniencing me by selling me a defective product, IOGEAR would want to minimize my inconvenience by expediting the RMA process. Well IOGEAR's RMA policy is definitely not geared toward the consumer and falls short compared to pretty much every other company I have dealt with.
Try this if you're feeling lucky, or can return. July 5, 2009 D. Weaver (AZ USA) This product is a 4 to 1 HDMI switch. That is, you'd expect to plug 4 HDMI sources in and have 1 HDMI cable come out which you'd connect to your HD TV. This is all true. The problem is that not all HDMI sources are equal.
I have 4 HDMI devices; a DirectTV HD DVR, Philips upconverting DVD, XBOX 360 Elite and a New MAC Mini. Only the DirectTV DVR and the XBOX 360 Elite will sync with the IOGear HDMI Switch. The other two give an image for a second or so, then the signal is shutoff. If IOGear could provide some means of predicting compatibility this might be worth your time. This device has a good price point. Depending on your budget and willingness to experiment and possibly return, this may not be for you.
One annoying issue, aside from the glaring blue power light, is that it doesn't auto-detect the DirectTV HDMI source. Each time I power down then power on the component I have to manually hit the switch selector before it is recognized.
This said, when the IOGear HDMI Switch does work, the image is clear bright and rock solid as you'd expect.
Better than Monoprice switches February 5, 2009 P. Jarvi (Illinois) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I've been using the IOGEAR 4-port HDMI switch for close to 6 months now. I started with a switch from Monoprice, but could never get it to work with my Xbox360. The screen would flash in and out with a green screen in between, indicating there was some handshake issue. I have never had that problem with the IOGEAR.
My current configuration is: Comcast HD DVR, AppleTV, Xbox360, and PS3 going into the switch, which is then connected to a 24" Dell HD monitor.
The automatic switching feature works great with the 360 and PS3, but does not work with the Comcast HD DVR, or AppleTV. When I turn on the 360 or PS3, the switch automatically goes to that device and when I turn off the 360 or PS3, it automatically goes back to the last device.
Everything is not perfect though (hence the 4 stars), about once every 2-3 weeks the AppleTV will experience a problem whereby it shows a solid white screen when trying to show DRM'd video. To resolve this issue, I have to restart the AppleTV. Seems like some kind of HDCP issue (IOTW DRM sucks!).
As I mentioned at the start, I tried a switch from monoprice first mainly because they were so highly recommended on avsforum's, however the monoprice never worked for me. The IOGEAR has been working beautifully.
