The cable cannot work in a car or anywhere where you need it to be protected from magnetic interference.
If you want a cable that can connect your iPhone/iPod to your car, buy something else. This is worth 1 cent; not much more.

This audio cable work exactly as stated from Cables To Go. I just returned from vacation where I used the cable on the sirius radio mounted on my Harley Davidson during a 2000 mile trip up the coast of California and back down thru the Mountains to Southern California in cold and hot weather and never had any problems at all. Cables To Go sent the product very promptly. I will order other products from Cables To Go when I need them and I have already recommended them to some of my friends.

I used them for a car radio that had an input jack, and now I can use my iPod in my car. These have many uses I know, and they are much cheaper than Best Buy or even Walmart! Work great, crystal clear transfer of sound.
