Needed to mate mini-dvi from apple laptop to HDTV HDMI connection. Works fine. But still have to add audio cable. Too bad a combination cable/adaptor is not available.

I was using an adaptor to 480 video cable that I bought from the Apple store. This obviously looks way better on my TV and was way cheaper.

The video signal was adequate, but the lack of sound capabilities makes it unfit for anything beyond

I have a MacBook and wanted to display digital pictures and videos on a large HD TV. This adapter/cable allows me to connect the mini-DVI port on my MacBook to the HDMI input on the TV. I get full 1080p resolution but no audio because DVI port does not carry audio. You will need an audio cable with a 3.5 mm plug on one end and RCA jacks on the other end to connect to earphone port on MacBook and audio inputs on the TV respectively. It should work with no fuss. A footnote: The MacBook will use both your laptop and TV screens. The TV is now in "extended" mode - i.e. TV extends your laptop screen. For example, if you move the mouse over to one of the edges (depends on your configurations) of the laptop screen, it will show up on TV screen. Therefore, to display pictures on the TV screen, just drag the application/pictures to the TV screen. Neato!
