Works Excellent! September 2, 2010 Highviscosity Purchased this cable after learning that my new laptops DVI connector was only single link and would not drive my 30" apple cinema display at 2560X1600, this gizmo worked perfectly (without plugging into a wall powered USB hub, just the USB on my docking station). Will buy another for my other display.
Eyefinity July 31, 2010 Spencer Carter This adapter works great for Eyefinity. XP users beware, Eyefinity only works on Vista and Windows 7!
Works mostly July 28, 2010 Wes (San Diego, CA) I bought this to run 3 DVI/HDMI monitors at 1920x1200 each, 5760x1200 total on my ATI Radeon HD 5870. It works most of the time, but whatever monitor I have connected to this adapter will flicker now and then and sometimes Windows 7 will report a link failure on the Display port when changing resolutions or making changes in the video settings. It will often work perfectly for hours and then have intermittent issues for a couple minutes before returning to normal operation. Overall it works well, but is not perfect.
Not completely reliable July 8, 2010 Alex Daniels (Dallas TX) Using this in an eyefinity 3 monitor setup. Unfortunately this is the only adapter cetified for 2560x1600. After reading the reviews I decided to buy a dedicated high-power USB power supply (rated for 1 amp operation, double the normal USB power limit of 0.5A) hoping that this would prevent some of the issues reported. After about a month of use, I've never seen flickering, but about once a week the signal delivered by Accel completely drops and the monitor goes to sleep without any video signal. Power-cycling the Accell fixes the problem immediately.
I did break out my DMM and measured the voltage being sent into the unit under load. From my PC's USB ports it was 4.60v and from the external power supply 4.59v. which should fall within spec.
Hopefully another manufacturer will deliver a competently engineered alternative design that's certified for 2560x1600 with eyefinity. This has all the hallmarks of flawed product design, so buyer beware!
Not worth the $100+ tag. June 27, 2010 Xov Experienced tech -- Costs way too much for what it does. Its construction feels solid, not cheap in the least, however it performs like crap. Using it in a AMD tri-finity triple monitor gaming setup and every now and then it causes the computer to lock up because it loses "link status" making one display flake out. I've rotated it around the displays to make sure its not the screen, same result each time (along with flip flopping both 5870's I have), I've even tried different methods of powering the USB, same results. Disappointed its not more reliable, however when it works it looks FANTASTIC! Shopping else-where from a more reliable, better performing brand since Accell can't seem to do the job.
