very poor product August 22, 2010 simon The inputs switch automatically without any remote or manual control. This company is clearly selling junk.
A gross disapointment July 18, 2010 Jospeh Snyder (Biloxi, Ms USA) I bought this item for a plasma TV that is pain to switch between components, and only has two HDMI ports. I got it out of the box, set it up, and it immediate started defaulting to input number two, no matter what. When I walked by, changed the channel. I was very displeased. I then went to monster's web site to see how common this problem is, the answer, very common. I figured for the amount of money we are talking about this glitch must have been addressed. The posts either say it did not work or it was great. Here is the fix. Program all three inputs whether in use or not. This will solve the defaulting, the easy thing is you can use any code. I used 111, 115, 116 the most common for my remote. So in short it does work, but the instructions are not complete, they do not mention this problem. Otherwise the picture is great, sound is good and it is doing well, not five stars because I am leery about something that seemed to start out so badly.
3 weeks later.......
It dropped all of it's programing for the third time, I am buying a Sony switch to replace it. Monster's quality is usually pretty high, but this item flat does not work. The reviews are the same on their web site, and at Best Buy, the problem is epidemic. Very disappointed.
Antoher Great Monster Product May 20, 2010 Rodrigo Yanez Another Great Monster Cable Product easy to set up.
The documentation has been updated to make it easier to set up.
Here is all you have to do to set it up connect your Sat or cable Box's HDMI to HDMI 1 Make sure your Sat or Cable box is off on the Switch press the learn button then press Input 1 and on your Universal Remote select what you want to power up and you are all set.
Why sell something that does not work January 1, 2010 Joseph Queen 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I wonder if Monster even tested this design before it went to fabrication because it does NOT work properly. The only way I could keep it from going to INPUT 1 was to hold down the remote control for either Input 2 or 3. Ohterwise, after a few seconds, it would auto switch to Input 1.
I thought maybe it is confused because I am using it's output to my Denon HDMI switching receiver (it does 4 and I have 6 devices) but I dsconnected it's output and it still has a mind of it's own.
It is getting returned tomorrow.
this Item is horrible December 18, 2009 Matthew Short (KC) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
first off this is one of the most expensive HDMI switches on the market, I bought one because I wanted to make sure it would work. Well the thing is for some reason whenever you press a button, any button on any remote it switches to the third HDMI plugged in. And if you have it switched to one of the first two HDMI cables and don't press any buttons on any remote, it will switch to the third cable after about 10 minutes. This thing is a giant waste of money and one of the most hated products I have ever owned, and the bad thing is I bought this at a retail store that would not let me return it, so I am now looking on amazon for a less expensive and all around better product.
